Wal+Mart Fined $89,705 For Overcharging Wisconsin Customers
Wal+Mart received an $89,705 fine after the Wisconsin Department of
Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection found 280 weights and measures
violations at nine Wal+Mart stores. The gargantuan retailer failed to
subtract the weight of packaging materials, or "tare weight," when
pricing bulk items like coffee, broccoli, and sweet potatoes.

Wal+Mart workers in Pennsylvania who previously won a $78.5 million
class-action award for working off the clock will share an additional $62.3
million in damages, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Man Attempts to Return Wal+Mart Ammunition at 1300 Feet Per Second
According to the Union-Tribune in San Diego, a man tried to return shotgun
ammunition to his local Wal+Mart. After he was refused he became enraged and
told the employees he would be back to kill them all.

Revenue Department lawyer Mark Zimmer argues that the world's largest
retailer is not paying its fair share of taxes that support public schools,
local police and fire departments and the highways it uses to transport what
it sells in Wisconsin.

Wal+Mart Uses 4,300 Unpaid Teenagers As Baggers In Its Mexican Stores
Wal+Mart is Mexico's largest private employer, according to Newsweek, and
that doesn't include the 4,300 unpaid teenagers that it lets "volunteer"
to bag groceries at its Mexican stores.

Religious Action Figures Are Coming to Wal+Mart
Wal+Mart has always catered to the family values crowd, but that hasn't
stopped some Christian ministers from questioning Wal+Mart's faith:
"They'll carry anything that sells," says David Croyle, president of
FamilyLife, a non-denominational ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ.
"This simply signals intelligent buying within Wal+Mart."

Wal+Mart's coming: Is violent crime far behind?
"To me, there is an absolute nexus between Wal+Mart and increase crime
generated in an area," [Police Chief Dennis] Minnich said, adding
officers respond to shopliftings, thefts and assaults. "We also get a
few crimes against the elderly from people abusing their credit cards. We

Ex-exec hits back at Wal+Mart
Julie Roehm, the former Wal+Mart marketing executive fired for traveling
with a co-worker at the company's expense, hit back Friday at her ex-employer
- and especially its CEO - with a slew of accusations contained in a federal
court document. Roehm accused executives at the No. 1 retailer of ignoring
company ethics policy, accepting trips and gifts from clients, and of
benefiting from preferential prices on jewelry and yachts.
